Your library stays on your iPhone.
Grid.X is a local-first inventory organizer. Version 1.0 requires no account and does not operate a cloud-sync service.
User-initiated backup and restore
Grid.X can export and import a local .gridx backup only when you choose. A backup may contain names, locations, notes, status, timestamps, and photos. Grid.X does not send backup files to the developer, and the developer does not upload or collect them. A third-party storage or sharing provider you select handles the file under its own privacy policy.
Grid.X validates a selected backup before replacing the entire local library. Immediately before replacement, it saves one private recovery copy on this device; a later import replaces that slot, and uninstalling Grid.X removes it. Backups and recovery copies exclude app preferences and the QR/NFC signing key, so codes and tags may need to be generated or written again after restoring on another device.
Data stored on your device
Spaces, zones, item names, notes, status history, and photos you choose are stored in the app’s local SwiftData library on this device. Grid.X does not independently upload this library.
iOS may include app data in an encrypted device or iCloud backup according to your device settings and Apple’s backup policies. Grid.X does not independently upload or control those system backups.
No analytics, advertising, or tracking
Version 1.0 contains no advertising, analytics, cross-app tracking, or third-party tracking SDK. Grid.X does not sell user data.
Optional AI recognition
When you explicitly choose AI recognition while adding an item or space, Grid.X sends only the selected, resized photo and the recognition task through a secure service operated by the developer to a third-party AI processing service. The photo is used to suggest a short, editable name or note. Your local library, item history, precise location, contact information, account information, and QR/NFC signing key are not included.
Grid.X explains this before the first AI request. You can cancel, disable recognition, ignore or edit the suggestion, and continue with manual entry. Grid.X does not persist the photo or recognition response in its own application database and does not use them for advertising or tracking. The production processor is Alibaba Cloud Model Studio. Alibaba Cloud states that pay-as-you-go API data is not used for model training, while data generated from model and application calls is stored in accordance with applicable law and its service agreement.
Permissions
- Camera: scans signed Grid.X QR labels and captures a photo only when you choose.
- Photos: lets you choose a photo to attach to an item or space.
- NFC: reads and writes signed Grid.X NDEF tags on a compatible physical iPhone.
These permissions are requested only when their associated feature is used. Manual entry and in-app QR display remain available without NFC.
QR and NFC label security
Grid.X signs QR and NFC payloads with an app-generated key stored in the device Keychain. The app rejects unsigned or modified Grid.X payloads. A label may still reveal that it is a Grid.X label; do not place labels where that fact is sensitive.
Deleting data
Uninstalling Grid.X deletes its local app library from the device, subject to your system backup state. If startup recovery is shown, you may also choose Reset local library; this requires confirmation and permanently deletes local spaces, zones, items, notes, and photos.
